“Raece had a steady time in relation to the last couple of weeks,” said Weber. “Tyler’s conditioning is much improved. Tyler had his best run of the season, maybe in part being due to Gunther hanging onto his heels for the last mile of the race. Gunther dropped a minute from his previous PR. Overall, the boys seem to be peaking at the right time as we go into the post-season next week.”
LaCrescent won the meet with 24 points, followed by USC/AC with 55, WEM/JWP 72 and NRHEG 88.
Katharine Lewer continued to lead the NRHEG girls, finishing 13th in 17:36. Melissa Malakowsky was 21st in 18:55; Shantaya Olson, 22nd, 19:10; Crystal Olson, 29th, 19:35; Destinee Meyer, 33rd, 22:00; Kimberly Narvaez, 35th, 22:22; and Megan Conley, 37th, 23:46.
“Our top runners got off the line a bit slow, but Katherine and Missy made up some ground as the race went on,” said Weber. “Shantaya had one of her better races and was not far behind Missy. We thought Crystal had the best meet on the girls’ side with her best run this season. Kimberly fought through some illness to finish. We are excited to begin our post-season next week, starting with the Gopher Valley Conference run in Madelia on Tuesday.”
LaCrescent’s girls won with 32 points. USC/AC was second with 33, WEM/JWP third with 73 and NRHEG fourth at 103.
After Tuesday’s conference meet, the Panthers will prepare for the section meet Oct. 27 at Montgomery-Lonsdale.
