"LSH was everything they were advertised to be,” said Kuechenmeister. “We knew we had our hands full coming in and that we'd need to play our best volleyball to be competitive. Unfortunately, at the start of the match, we were caught a bit on our heels and they really took it to us. To the girls' credit, though, they came back and competed hard in the latter stages of game 2 and 3 to really push one of the best teams in the state of Minnesota. No, we didn't play our best and that was frustrating, but it was good for the girls to see that when they play well, they can compete with just about anybody. Hopefully, that will give us confidence as we move forward."
At Mankato West, the Panthers defeated Mankato East, Minnesota Valley Lutheran and Chatfield 2-0 in pool play. In the championship round, they topped Worthington 25-11, 15-25, 15-10 before falling to Winona in the finals 24-26, 25-21, 15-12.
"We had a great tournament overall,” said Kuechemeister. “Our goal coming in was to take the whole thing, and we were a few errors away from making that goal a reality. This group has showed resilience in pressure situations, and once again they were tested in several matches and we came out on top more often than not. That's definitely great to see this early in the season!"
