The QCBA 13-and-under baseball team has been busy lately, running its season record to 6-2-2.

On July 5, the team played to a 13-13 tie at St. Clair. The next night, the locals held off the Waseca Legion 4-3 at Waseca. Hoppe was 1-for-1 with a double; Palmer Peterson 1-for-2 with one RBI; Erickson 2-for-2 with one RBI; Wicks 1-for-3; Lutgens 1-for-1. Hoppe was the starting pitcher, fanning three. Tucker struck out six in relief.

The team hosted LCWM the next night and won 6-3. Leading hitters: Fitterer 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI; Cole 1-for-1; Hoppe 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI; C.J. Schiltz 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI; Peterson 1-for-2; Erickson 1-for-2; Wicks 2-for-2 with a triple; Hanson 1-for-2; Clayton Nelson 1-for-2 with a double; Lutgens one RBI; Colstrup 1-for-2. Peterson got the pitching win. Overgaard struck out four in relief.

The following night, the squad won 6-4 at Albert Lea. Fitterer was 2-for-3 with one RBI; Cole 1-for-1; Schiltz 1-for-3 with two RBIs; Erickson 1-for-2 with a double; Jack Skalicky 1-for-3; Wicks 1-for-3; Tucker 1-for-2; Hanson 2-for-2; Lutgens 1-for-2 with two RBIs; Colstrup 1-for-3 with one RBI. Lutgens was the winning pitcher, striking out six. Tucker fanned five in relief.

The team was shorthanded hosting the Waseca VFW July 12 and lost 15-5. Wicks was 2-for-5; Nelson 1-for-4; Karter Sletten 1-for-4; Lutgens 2-for-5 with two RBIs; Colstrup 1-for-4. Wicks started on the mound and had four strikeouts. Lutgens struck out seven in relief.

“The boys were busy this past week playing four games in four days,” said coach Tom Schiltz. “Overall it was a successful one. After a rough start in St. Clair on Tuesday, we were lucky to come out of there with a 13-13 tie. Too many walks and errors created a nasty game on our part. We bounced back on Wednesday against Waseca Legion, and pitched much better with Trey and Dempsey on the mound. We also had three double plays in this game; very impressive. It was nice to see the team didn't let the previous game get them down. Thursday was our first home game in a while and it was another sound pitching performance. Palmer was around the strike zone the entire time he was in there. It was a nice performance, as it was his first start of the season. Luke came in and pitched an effective outing in relief. Friday, we traveled to Albert Lea for another make up game to finish off the week. Eli was in control the whole time he was on the mound. Eli was throwing strikes and Albert Lea was having a hard time hitting it. Dempsey finished the game with another sound performance.”
