The NRHEG track and field teams competed in the Section 2A True Team Meet Tuesday, May 5.

Both squads finished 10th among 14 schools.

Minnesota Valley Lutheran won the boys’ division with 735 points, followed by LCWM/Nicollet with 635. The Panthers had 443.

Junior John Cole captured the Panthers’ lone first, outdueling his opponent in a sprint at the finish to win the 3200 meters with a time of 10:40.26.

“Rock & roll John Cole had a fantastic meet,” said NRHEG coach Duey Ferber.

Cole combined with Tyler Schlaak, Nate Krause and Josh Flemming for second in the 4x800.

“The 4x800 had a good night, but are still chasing MCW,” said Ferber. “The next time we see them is in sections.”

Keith Maxon was second in the discus and third in the shot put.

“Keith had a monster night,” said Ferber.

The girls’ team crown went to Blue Earth Area with 751.5 points. Madelia/Truman was second with 609. The Panthers totaled 449.

Hailey Schuller was the Panthers’ top placewinner, finishing third in the 100 high hurdles. Schuller, Gretchen Ramaker, Maddie Wagner and Marnie Wagner took fourth in the 4x200 relay, as did Maddie Wagner in the high jump. Wagner, Wagner, Ramaker and Erin VanWilgen were sixth in the 4x100 relay while Sophia Fischer was sixth in the shot put.

“We have an extremely tough True Team section,” said Ferber. “We did not perform the way I would have liked tonight. We have some work to do before conference next week.”º
