Tollefson dominates 2nd half as defense keep Tigers down

A strong first half in last Thursday’s match against Medford took NRHEG to a 22 point halftime lead, 39-17, and they extended it in the second half to win by 38 points – 84-46.
“I thought we did a good job on the defensive end of the floor and made their shots tough,” commented coach Pat Churchill.
“Macoy Schwierjohan did a great job defender Luke Peterson. Peterson ended up with 21 points but he had to work for every bit of it.”
Kevin Kalis had 17 in the first half and finished with a game high 25.
“We did a nice job moving the ball against their zone, to get those looks for Kevin in the first half,” said Churchill, “and he capitalized on those opportunities.”
Spencer Tollefson took over in the second half with 15 points and finished with 22 points.
Stats: Spencer Tollefson 22 points 4 assists; Trevor Tracy 3 points; Macoy Schwierjohan 5 points 3 assists; Kevin Kalis 25 points 8 rebounds; Oakley Baker 11 points; John Cole 4 points; Chad Agrimson 4 points; Luke Overgaard 4 points; Tyler Schlaak 2; points, Brady Beenken 4 points.
The Junior Varsity beat Medford 65-33.
NRHEG next plays St. Clair next Friday in the first round of the Bethany Lutheran Holiday Tournament at 8:00.
