NRHEG girls fifth in True Team Section Meet

The NRHEG girls’ track and field team finished fifth among 14 schools in the Section 2A True Team Meet at Maple River High School in Mapleton Tuesday, May 10.

Blue Earth Area won with 830.5 points, followed by USC/AC with 669, LeSueur-Henderson 664, LCWM/Nicollet 575.5, NRHEG 541.5.

“We were not unhappy with fifth place,” said Panthers coach Duey Ferber. “However, we expected to finish in the top four. Blue Earth is a powerhouse right now.”

Carlie Wagner, the Panthers’ freshman sensation, continued to impress, taking two firsts and two seconds. She won the 200 meters in 26.88 seconds and the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches. She was second in the 100 in 12.62 and second in the 400 in 62.11.

“Carlie had a great night,” said Ferber.

The Panthers’ next best finish was third by the 4x100 relay ream of Anna Schlaak, Alearah Neumann, Paige Bolduan and Raelin Schue. Neumann was fourth in the triple jump, Jill Kalis fourth in the discus.

Other NRHEG places: 4x200, fifth (Schlaak, Neumann, Danielle Krueger, Schue); Krueger, seventh, 400 and 10th, 800; Kaylee Maxon, seventh, discus; Amber Schmit, eighth, shot put; Schlaak, 10th, high jump and 11th, 100 hurdles; Katherine Lewer, 11th, 3200 and 12th, 1600; 4x400, 11th (Hailey Schuller, Abby Wacholz, Taylar Tieskotter, Jamie Ulrich); Mikayla Lindell, 11th, shot put; Samantha Hogstad, 15th, pole vault and 24th, 200; Abby Crabtree, 16th, pole vault; Katie Cole, 18th, 100 hurdles; Schue, 18th, 100; Ashley Garretson, 19th, long jump; Destinee Meyer, 20th, 3200; Emily Habeck, 22nd, 300 hurdles; Crystal Olson, 22nd, 800; Shantaya Olson, 23rd, 1600.

The Panthers had the Gopher Conference meet at Blooming Prairie Tuesday, May 17. The sub-section meet is scheduled for May 26.
