The Wednesday Nighters Bowling League at Trapper’s Lanes in New Richland held their end-of-season awards program on Wednesday, April 20th.

The league this past season was comprised of seven teams: Ebnet Construction, Johnny's Custom Cabinets, New Richland Liquor Company, New Richland Liquor Company Women, State Bank of New Richland, Swamprats and Trapper’s Lanes. Once again Janice Pederson from Superior Foods catered the evening meal, which consisted of barbequed pork and turkey, scalloped potatoes, whole kernel corn, macaroni salad and buns. Some of the women on the State Bank of New Richland team — Ann Hagen, Jenny Thompson, Jill Schlaak and Cindy Holland, assisted Janice Pederson, served the meal.

Al Waldhauser, league president, called the business meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. Stan Timmerman, league secretary/treasurer, read the minutes of the last meeting. The league decided to continue with their current slate of officers: president, Waldhauser; vice president, Milty Armstrong; and secretary/treasurer, Timmerman, for another season. It was also announced that the cost of bowling will be going up $1 next year and it was also decided to increase the salary of the secretary/treasurer, which has been the same for the past four years, to $24 for the 2011-12 season.

The New Richland Liquor Company team won the first third of the season, the Swamprats won the second third and New Richland Liquor Company and Ebnet Construction tied for first place in the last third. The New Richland Liquor Company team, which consisted of Dick Root, Mark Routh, Wayne Billing, Al Waldhauser, Shannon Young and Karl Proehl, once again won the overall championship following the night of roll offs. The New Richland Liquor Company team had a score of 2590, Ebnet Construction 2533, Trappers 2495 and Geneva Swamprats 2338.

The New Richland Liquor Company Women finished the regular season with the most wins with 61, followed by Ebnet Construction with 58, Geneva Swamprats, 55.5, Trapper’s 51.5, Jonny's Custom Cabinets, 50. The New Richland Liquor Company Women and New Richland State Bank tied with 47 wins.

The Wednesday Nighters bowling league will start the 2011-12 season on October 26th.
