Family is the essence of life.

And big sister Presley, 4, couldn't be more proud of her sisters Hattie, Raegan and Lia, and brother Shay.

They’re not just ordinary siblings. They’re quadruplets — born to Travis and Ashley Broskoff of Geneva — and on March 28, they celebrated their six-month birthday.

Presley is an amazing big sister and little helper in the Broskoff home. She has a T-shirt that reads, "I'm the big sister," and says she can't wait until the babies get bigger so they can all play with her in her toy room.

All of the babies are extremely well natured, and Travis and Ashley know they are very blessed to have five healthy and perfect children. It really is the result of intelligent care given before and after their birth. Having people who love them, spend time talking to them, holding them and caring for them in the nicest way has made all the difference.

It is hard to believe the Broskoff quads are 6 months old. It may have seemed like a long journey at times for Travis and Ashley, but they have really been amazed, watching their babies grow into such sweet and happy children.

There are things about them that are so much alike, yet their differences overpower their similarities. They may be quads, but it is already apparent they are each special, little individuals in size, appearance and personality.

Hattie, the first born, currently weighs 14 pounds, 4 ounces, and is often the one to do "new things" first. Her parents say that she is a very, happy, mellow baby.

Raegan, born second, weighs 11 pounds, 2 ounces. Travis and Ashley say she has a mind of her own, but Raegan is actually the "chatty one" with her high-pitched squeak.

Lia, was the third to arrive, currently weighs 13 pounds, 11 ounces. Lia seems to be more shy than her siblings, is laid back and has a "happy-go-lucky" attitude.

Travis and Ashley say that their only son, Shay, is the most easy going of their children and also has the biggest smile. Shay was the last to be born and currently weighs 11 pounds, 4 ounces. He is handsome with his dark hair, big dark eyes and a welcome smile. He is definitely "all boy."

Ashley and Travis try to keep their household on a schedule as much as possible. Their day starts early at about 6 or 6:30 a.m. The little ones consume about a gallon of formula a day and caring for them requires washing two loads of bottles in the dishwasher.

"If we are lucky, we get by doing two loads of baby laundry, a day," said Ashley.

On average, the babies go through 125 diapers a week. The little ones already sleep through the night, like to be held and enjoy family interaction so their 8 p.m. bedtime isn't just on the schedule, it is family time.

Realizing how difficult it can be with just one new baby in the house, it is amazing to see how Ashley and Travis have stayed so calm and are really enjoying these fabulous four little ones. One can only admire their ability to handle so much with just a little bit of volunteer help.

Travis and Ashley have been trying to keep the children at home as much as possible, trying to avoid winter time ills. The children have only had to visit their doctor three times for check-ups and they all went at the same time. Ashley and Travis really enjoy spending time with their children, and did take them outside for a couple of "little walks" on those beautiful days earlier this month, just to acquaint them with the outdoors.

All five of the Broskoff children are definitely loved. Travis and Ashley have a plaque on their wall that says it all: "Enjoy the little things in life for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things."
