It wasn't a textbook win by any means for the NRHEG High School baseball team.

But it was a win. And that's what the Panthers were looking for.

Alden Dobberstein walked, advanced on two wild pitches and scored on a balk as the Panthers prevailed 3-2 at Martin Luther Monday afternoon.

NRHEG coach Mark Lee called it a crazy game, which included a triple play pulled off by the Panthers.

"I still don't know how that happened," said Lee.

You don't have to analyze the scorebook a whole lot to figure out what derailed the NRHEG High School softball team Monday.

It was errors.

Fielding miscues and mistakes on the base paths proved the difference in a 15-5, six-inning loss to Bethlehem Academy at Faribault.

The Panthers saw their record fall to 2-2, 1-2 in the Gopher Conference.

The visitors kept it close for more than four innings, but errors caught up to them and they surrendered nine runs through the final two frames.

The NRHEG track and field teams finished second among eight schools in last Tuesday's Maple River Invitational.

The girls totaled 136 points, second to JWP with 163. Blue Earth Area was third with 102.5.

Evelyn Nydegger continued her stellar spring, winning the 100-meter high hurdles in 17.62 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 50.27 and the triple jump at 32-00.5. Quinn VanMaldeghem won the 800 in 2:38.0.

Keira Lenort, Nydegger, Holly Bartness and VanMaldeghem were second in the 4x400 relay.
