Jared Lee was about all the NRHEG baseball team needed at Medford last week.

The freshman left-hander was masterful on the mound, tossing a seven-inning one-hitter as the Panthers prevailed 5-0.

"We hit real well in this game and played great defense, but the story of the game was in how Jared Lee pitched," said Panthers coach Shawn Larson.

Lee finished with 13 strikeouts against three walks.

"It was a very dominant performance from Jared today, who stayed around the strike zone all day," said Larson. "This aggressive style of ball is what I hope we carry into the postseason."

The Panthers totaled 12 hits, led by Alden Dobberstein going 2-for-4 with two runs, Carter Martens 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Seth Staloch 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and A.J. Deen 2-for-3. Ryan Schlaak was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Jordan Brouwers 1-for-2 with a walk. Deven Parpart and Wyatt Larson also hit safely.

The Panthers plated single runs in the second and third innings, putting it away with a thre-run fourth. They played errorless defense.

The Panthers posted a 5-4 victory over WEM at Waterville last Thursday. They trailed most of the game but tied it with two runs in the fifth and won it with one in the sixth. They outhit WEM 13-6.

"This was another nice day and a nice game," said Coach Larson. "The edge in hits may have been just enough to get us over the top."

Lee, Parpart, Martens, Brouwers and Wyatt Larson garnered two hits each, with Brouwers driving in two runs. Martens and Parpart doubled. O.wayne and Deen added one hit apiece.

Parpart pitched a complete game, striking out four and walking two while allowing thre earned runs.

"Deven pitched a solid game," said Coach Larson. "He kept us in the game throwing a steady stream of strikes. It is nice to have better play this time of the year."

The Panthers played errorless defense while WEM had one error.

The Panthers won 2-1 at Kenyon-Wanamingo last Friday.
