The NRHEG High School baseball team statisticians had some difficulties during last Thursday's non- conference game at Waseca.

It's about the only thing that went wrong for the Panthers all day.

Freshman left-hander Jared Lee pitched into the fifth inning and Deven Parpart finished it off as the Panthers prevailed 13-3 at Tink Larson field.

"We had great pitching from Jared Lee," said NRHEG coach Shawn Larson. "Waseca scored their runs while Jared was pitching, however all three of their runs were unearned. After Jared, Deven Parpart came in and closed out the game without allowing any more runs."

It was an outstanding performance by the Panthers, who have no seniors on the roster.

"Along with our good defense, we had the bats going today," said Larson. "All in all it was a great performance, and when we play like this, you just want to get to the next game so we can keep playing."

The Panthers had a rough outing Monday as they committed six fielding errors while falling 10-4 to Blooming Prairie at New Richland's Jeff and Carol Reese Field.

"Today was a tough day for us mentally," said Coach Larson. "We made several errors with our minds. Anytime in baseball when you make mental errors, and are not aggressive at the plate, it is very difficult to win games. The best thing we could do as a team is to try to be more consistent from game to game. Right now we are a roller coaster, and even though coasters are fun, I would like to see us be a little more steady."

The Panthers totaled six hits, two by Jace Ihrke and one apiece from Parpart, Lee, Alden Dobberstein and Carter Martens. Ihrke had two RBIs. Dobberstein doubled. The Panthers walked four times and struck out 11.

Brooks Gilliland started on the mound and took the loss. He allowed six earned runs on 10 hits through four innings, walking one the fanning two. Martens gave up one earned run in three innings of relief, striking out five and walking four.
