The NRHEG wrestling team hosted a quadrangular in New Richland Friday, Jan. 6.
It was a tough night for the Panthers.
The NRHEG crew absorbed three dual-meet losses, falling 48-21 to Goodhue, 50-27 to St. Clair/Mankato Loyola and 39-21 to Red Rock Central.
"Our team is in a tough position right now and we are trying to make the best of it," said Panthers coach Shaun Larson. "We are going to be making a few adjustments with our lineup in the next few weeks, with some injured wrestlers returning along with a few wrestlers moving to another weight class."
Winners for the Panthers against St. Clair/Loyola were Deven Parpart, 138 pounds; Aidan Schlaak, 145; Harbor Cromwell, 160; Aden Berg, 220; and Makota Misgen, 285. Four of the wins were by forfeit. The Panthers gave up forfeits in four matches.
NRHEG victories vs. Goodhue: Jacob Karl, 113; Parpart, 138; Ryan Schlaak, 152; Misgen, 285. The Panthers forfeited two bouts. Goodhue did not forfeit.
Winning against Red Rock Central: Karl, 106; Annabelle Petsinger, 126; Parker Bunn, 132; Ryan Schlaak, 152; Cromwell, 160; Wyatt Larson, 170; Misgen, 285. Both squads forfeited three match- es. Ryan Schlaak won by fall.
"Our inexperience continues to show, and it was especially that way in the St. Clair match," said Larson.
"We did not compete to the level we could have in that dual, and it showed as they capitalized on every mistake. In the Goodhue and Red Rock Central duals, we wrestled about as well as we could expect against those teams. We will contin- ue to work on being more aggres- sive, getting healthy, and with time running short on us this season, we are hoping to get our team sorted out soon."
The previous night, the Panthers faced a pair of Rochester schools, defeating John Marshall 35-33 and falling to Century 43-36.
Winners for NRHEG against JM: Karl, 113; Petsinger, 126; Bunn, 132; Parpart, 138; Ryan Schlaak, 152; Cromwell, 160; Misgen, 285. Misgen won by fall. The Panthers forfeited one weight and the Rockets did not forfeit any.
Winning against Century: Parpart, 138; Ryan Schlaak, 152; Cromwell, 160; Larson, 170; Cole Hutchens, 195; Misgen, 285. Misgen, Parpart and Ryan Schlaak won by fall. The Panthers forfeited four matches and won three by for- feit.
