The NRHEG Cross Country teams participated in their first home track meet of the season.

“Tonight was another beautiful night for a cross country meet for the NRHEG team,” NRHEG Head Coach Miles Otstot said. “Our boys had another solid outing, led by Devon Nelton and our girls also had a fantastic night, with Quinn VanMaldeghem placing 2nd place.”

The boys team finished sixth with a score of 151. Tri City United won it with 27, followed by JWP/WEM, 54; Loyola, 68; Medford 124; Maple River 147. Pacellie finished seventh with 159, followed by Blooming Prairie with 159.

“The rest of the team was tightly behind Nelton,” Coach Otstot said. “We love to see our boys running this tightly together and hope that they will continue to do that the rest of the season.”

Individually for the Panther boys: Nelton, 19:50, 22nd place; Conner Nelson, 20:44, 30th place; Gavin Sletten, 20:59, 33rd place; Eric Arvis, 21:08, 35th place; Sam Christensen, 21:16, 38th place.

The girls, unfortunately, did not field a full team.

“VanMaldeghem did well,” Coach Otstot said. “Torri Vaale was just slightly outkicked to take 6th place and Annabelle Petsinger and Lexi McGannon both had strong kicks to finish off the race.”

Individually for the lady runners: Quinn VanMaldeghem, 21:41, 2nd place; Torri Vaale, 22:23, 6th place; Annabelle Petsinger, 26:20, 27th place; Lexi McGannon, 28:23, 38th place.

Up next the Panthers compete at Waseca on Oct. 7 and at Oak View Oct. 12. The Panthers host the conference meet Oct. 19.
