After a couple of rainouts, the New Richland Jazz baseball team finished up their exhibition season at home on July 8 against Hayfield. After the Vikings jumped out to a 3-0 lead, the Jazz fought back. Daxter Lee scored on an Alex Dobberstein single and Ulrich Woollard walked with the bases loaded to score George Roesler.
However, the 5th inning proved to be New Richland's undoing. Hayfield scored six runs in the top half of the frame, most of them unearned. The Jazz scored another run in the bottom of the 5th when Ben Schoenrock hustled home on a wild pitch, but another Hayfield run in the 6th inning led to a final score of 10-3.
Addison Deyle, Dobberstein, Roesler, and Schoenrock all took turns on the mound for the evening. While the team didn't come out on top in any of their summer games, they took advantage of the games they had to get more at-bats, fielding opportunities, and chances to pitch in order to get better for the next school season.
The following all played for the Jazz this summer: Jackson Chrz, Addison Deyle, Aidan Deyle, Alden Dobberstein, Alex Dobberstein, Anton Domeier, Wyatt Groskreutz, Daxter Lee, Sam Olson, George Roesler, Ben Schoenrock, Clay Stenzel, Ethan Thompson, and Ulrich Woollard. The team was managed by Leon Schoenrock, who was assisted by Luke Dobberstein and Mark Domeier.
