The NRHEG High School wrestling team wrestled in Wells last week for a quadrangular match with USC, St. Clair – Mankato Loyola, and Norwood-Young America. The Panthers won all three matches, defeating NYA 51-6, St. Clair-ML 33-18, and USC 33-30.
“We have kept the momentum that we have built, and again wrestled fairly well,” said NRHEG coach Shawn Larson. “We had a great night. I do not remember the last time that we were able to have three wins in one night.”
Posting victories for NRHEG against USC were: Nikolas Petsinger at 120, Andrew Reich at 138, Thor Routh at 152 and 160 by forfeit, Ralph Roesler (170). Conner Okland was 2-0 with two falls at 182.
Against NYA, posting victories for NRHEG were: Annabelle Petsinger at 106, Parker Bunn at 113, Nikolas Petsinger at 120, Clay Stenzel at 132, Andrew Reich at 138, Cameron Cantu at 152, George Roesler at 160, Ralph Roesler at 160 and 170, Max Seltun at 195, Makota Misgen at 285.
Posting victories for NRHEG against St. Clair-Mankato Loyola were: Nikolas Petsinger at 126, Ethan Thompson at 132, Andrew Reich at 138, Agro Gushwa at 145, George Roesler at 152, Ralph Roesler at 170, Conner Oakland at 182.
“USC was a great dual because the individual match-ups in this dual made for a very interesting match that could be won by either team,” remarked Larson. “I feel that both sides wrestled well and everything was close in the team score, and it made for a fun atmosphere in Wells.”
The Panthers’ next competition will be the Section 2A Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 13.
