Brein breaks 50 of 50 targets to lead conference
Joey Brein did not feel the wind or the cold. Well, maybe he did, but he accomplished theNRHEG clay target team's first perfect round of 50 straight nonetheless lead the team to yet another strong week.
Only overshadowed by the conference leader, the second-place Panther shooters turned in their best weekly score of the season.
Brein's round of 50/50 was good enough to lead the conference as he broke out of a mini-slump the past couple of weeks. This was his second time holding the 50 patch in his career.
A number of other shooters flirted with getting the coveted patches but only one more, Adam Eustice, was able to seal the deal. This is Adam's second week in a row earning a patch.
The conference and team leader is currently Caden Beauvais with an average of 23.83 after three weeks of competition. Second on the team and in the conference is Charles Pittman, with a 23.67 average out of a possible 25.
Other top 10 shooters in the conference are Alex Dobberstein, Adam Eustice, Evan Reyna, Ralph Roesler, Joey Brein, Trevor Otterson, Savannah Smith and Keira Lenort.
“The number of kids who can claim a top-10 spot indicates a tight field with a number of ties, so it is expected this will break up as the last two weels are put in the books,” said NRHEG coach Dan Sorum.
In addition to a top-10 spot, Beauvais is 19th in the state, Pittman is 34th, with Dobberstein and Eustice just sneaking into the top 100 at 92nd.
The team will turn in week 4 of a five-week season this week, shooting at the Owatonna Gun Club on Wednesday.
