The NRHEG volleyball team had its version of the NFL’s bye week, and entered it on a winning note.
The Panthers swept JWP 3-0 at Janesville Monday, Sept. 19, their last match until tonight’s Gopher Conference clash at Waterville. They won 25-21, 25-14, 25-20.
“The girls played really well,” said coach Onika Peterson. “We had talked beforehand that we needed to have confidence coming into the game, getting in the right mindset that we could get a win tonight.”
Individually for NRHEG: Maddie Wagner 7 kills, 6 digs, 2 ace serves; Marnie Wagner 5 kills, 14 digs; Natalie Aaseth 3 kills, 1 assist; Gabby Muri 5 digs; Gretchen Ramaker 5 kills; Rachel Collins 2 kills, 11 digs, 23 assists, 1 ace serve; Erin VanWilgen 7 digs, 3 ace serves; Kelly Harden 1 dig; Olivia Christopherson 13 kills, 8 digs; Grace Johns 7 digs, 2 ace serves.
“The girls were extremely aggressive at the net, which was great to see,” said Coach Peterson. “Our defense really hustled in the back row.”
The NRHEG junior varsity won 25-16, 25-16.
