On what was a near-perfect night, near-perfect scores seemed to flow like water for the NRHEG clay target shooters.

Six athletes posted scores of 49/50. Kyle Bartz, Noah Lund, and Zachary Eustice of Waseca, Collin Christenson, Cordell Peterson, and Carter Hagen of NRHEG all missed just one target to make this night impressive. Another shooter, Ross Lenort of NRHEG, also posted a perfect round of 25 to make it seven total for the evening.

Added to this a number of students scoring 23s and 24s and it was nearly impossible for any other team in the conference to make any ground on the NRHEG squad. One shooter from Wayzata scored a 50 in competition and three others also posted 49s creating, a nine-way tie for the second high score in the week.

In the end, however, 10 NRHEG marksmen owned spots in the top 20 scores last week. This also meant a number of athletes moved up in both the top 25 in the conference and the top 100 in the state.

Collin Christenson now sits in the No. 2 spot in the conference just one-fourth of a point behind Max Bunning of Wayzata. Bartz is fourth overall, followed by Zachary Eustice, sixth, Tanner Alfson (Albert Lea), eighth, Tory Christenson, ninth, Noah Lund, 10th, tied with Chancellor Olson (NRHEG). Alex Romer (ALHS), and Tyler Raimann (NRHEG).  Cordell Peterson moved up to 16th and Evan Dobberstein of NRHEG sits in 24th.

Morgan Phillips of Albert Lea continues to represent the girls sitting in a tie for 24th on the female side.

Collin Christenson is in a three-way tie for third overall high shooter in the state. Bartz remains in the top 100 as well and Eustice broke into this elite group the past week.

The team's final shoot for the five-week schedule isWednesday, May 25 at the Owatonna Gun Club in Hope where the team will try to wrap up the conference title. Spectators are welcome.
