When you win at Byron, they give you the shirts off their backs.

NRHEG’s Hailey Schuller, Caitlin Goette, Marnie Wagner and Maddie Wagner found out, teaming for first in the 4x200-meter relay last Thursday as the NRHEG girls’ track and field team took fifth in the Chuck Ranthum Invitational.

“This was a great meet for us, going up against the biggest and toughest teams from Section 1A,” said coach Duey Ferber. “Byron and Stewartville are powerhouses. Our 4x200 came away with a win and a T-shirt.”

Byron won with 181 points, with Stewartville second at 138. The Panthers had 38.

 

Schuller continued to pile up the points for the Panthers, taking second in the 100 hurdles, fourth in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the long jump. Sophia Fischer was third in the shot put.

 

Other places: Sydney Schlinger, fifth, 100; Maddie Wagner, fifth, long jump; 4x100 relay, fifth (Katie Cliff, Schlinger, Erin VanWilgen, Lilly Strom-Olsen); Marnie Wagner, sixth, 100; Goette, sixth, 400; 4x800, sixth (Hailey Westrum, Madisyn Bueltel, Emily Prigge, Nicole Frechette).

The Panthers were second among eight schools with 756 points in the Blooming Prairie True Team Invitational May 3. WEM won with 832.5.

Firsts were by Schuller, 100 hurdles, 17.42; Fischer, shot put, 35-8; Maddie Wagner, high jump, 5-2 and long jump, 16-0, and the 4x200 relay team of Schuller, Goette, Wagner and Wagner.

Schuller was second in the 300 hurdles and long jump.

Other places: Marnie Wagner, third, 100 and 200 and fifth, high jump; Kelly Harden, third, 800 and pole vault; Emily Eder, third, discus and fourth, shot put; Olivia Christopherson, third, high jump; Maddie Wagner, fourth, 100; Goette, fourth, 400 and fifth, 200; Jade Mely, fourth, 3200; 4x100, fourth (Christopherson, Schlinger, VanWilgen, Strom-Olsen); Micaela Vaale, fifth, 3200; Fischer, fifth, discus; 4x800 relay, sixth (Westrum, Bueltel, Annie Prigge, Emily Prigge); 4x400, sixth (Bueltel, Cliff, Maggie Maloney, Westrum.

“We had a great meet, with many PRs,” said Ferber.
