Bartz, Eustice nail 48 of 50; several finish regular season among state’s top 100
The NRHEG clay target team held off an end-of-the-season surge by the second-place team from Anoka to complete the Fall League on top of Conference 9.
The team, which consists of 37 students in grades 6-12, never trailed in the conference standings all season.
In the final week, it was two students from Wasea who posted the best scores on the team. Kyle Bartz and Zachary Eustice turned in rounds of 48/50. Six shooters scored rounds that ranked in the top 10 for the week.
"When we finished our rounds on Wednesday, we were quite confident that we had won the conference," stated coach Dan Sorum. "But, we still had to wait until it was official Saturday night when the state posts all results from the previous week of shooting."This the fourth time since the team’s inception in 2011 that NRHEG has brought home a conference title.
Nine shooters ended the season in the top 25 of all shooter averages. Kyle Bartz sits in first place, followed by Alex Romer of Albert Lea in third place. They are joined by Zachary Eustice (WHS) 5th, Tyler Raimann (NRHEG) 6th, Collin Christenson (NRHEG) 9th, Tory Christenson (NRHEG) 9th, Noah Alinder (WHS) 10th, Evan Dobberstein (NRHEG) 12th and Noah Neilsen (NRHEG) 13th.
Four shooters finish the season in the top 100 for the state as well. Kyle, Alex, Zachary, and Tyler all join this prestigious club out of the 2378 total student athletes in the Fall League.
