With two weeks left in competition ,the boys on the NRHEG High School clay target team are feeling the pressure to up their game in an effort to catch the conference leaders from McGregor-Aitkin-Cromwell.
Thanks to scores that placed the team in six of the top 10 individual scores for the week they accomplished that goal, but only by a small margin. Outscoring the MAC team by 400 points does close the gap, but with just one week left the NRHEG squad will have to do significantly better to close the 2000-point gap that still exists.
The team was led last week by Waseca's Noah Lund who turned in a near perfect score of 49/50. He was joined by Frank Altrichter (NRHEG) with a 48/50. Both shooters earned a perfect 25 patch for their rounds. For Frank, it also moved him up into the top 100 shooters in the state which, if he can maintain it for one more week, would qualify him for the 2nd Annual MSHSL Individual State Tournament.Frank also sits in the No. 2 spot in the conference. He is joined in the top 25 by Tyler Raimann - 4th (NRHEG), Collin Christiansen - 6th (NRHEG), Kyle Bartz - 7th (Waseca), Noah Lund - 12th (Waseca), Brett Kubiatowicz - 14th (NRHEG), Alex Romer - 16th (Albert Lea), and Sam Bartz - 16th (Waseca). The state championship is at Alexandria on June 14. There are 31 shooters from NRHEG registered to participate in what is the largest youth trap shoot in the world.
