The NRHEG girls’ track and field team finished fourth in the Glen Amundsen Invitational at Stewartville Tuesday, April 14.

The meet was won by Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Southland with 176 points, followed by Stewartville at 127, Rochester Lourdes 74, NRHEG 65, Blooming Prairie 60, Hayfield 49 and Triton 13.

While garnering no gold medals, the Panthers had four second-place finishes: Gretchen Ramaker, 100, 13.83 seconds; Hailey Schuller, 100 high hurdles, 17.89; Emily Eder, shot put, 31-1.5; and the 4x200 relay team of Schuller, Maddie Wagner, Marnie Wagner and Ramaker. They clocked 1:53.97.

Other places for the Panthers: Maddie Wagner, fourth, 200 and fourth, high jump; Ramaker, fourth, triple jump; 4x100 relay, fourth (Wagner, Wagner, Erin VanWilgen, Grace Kofstad); Kelly Harden, fifth, 800; Annie Prigge, fifth, 1600; Schuller, fifth, 300 hurdles and sixth, long jump; Eder, fifth, discus; 4x800 relay, fifth (Harden, Kallie Thompson, Hailey Westrum, Prigge); Maddie Wagner, sixth, high jump; 4x100, sixth (Katie Cliff, Kofstad, Maggie Maloney, Prigge).

“It was a fun meet for our girls,” said NRHEG mentor Duey Ferber. “It was very cool to see some teams from the east. We had great weather for a meet. Our times are not where we want them to be right now, but we will continue to work to get them down.”

The Panthers traveled to Wells and USC’s new facility for the USC Invitational Thursday, April 17. Blue Earth Area won with 262 points, followed by Martin County West with 199.5, NRHEG 168.5, Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet 163 and USC/AC 138.

The Panthers claimed two firsts, by Maddie Wagner in the high jump at 4-10 and by Gretchen Ramaker in the triple jump with a distance of 32-8.

Hailey Schuller was second in the 100-meter hurdles. She teamed with Ramaker, Maddie Wagner and Marnie Wagner for second in the 4x200 relay, and took third in the 300 hurdles and long jump.

“We had a nice meet in Wells,” said Ferber. “Gretchen Ramaker came out of nowhere to go over 32 feet in the TJ. Maddie had a nice win in the high jump, beating her cousin at 4’10”. Our top scorer Hailey Schuller keeps placing high in all of her events.”
