The NRHEG track and field teams traveled to Wells for the USC/AC Invitational Tuesday, April 17.
The girls took third among six schools with 81 points. USC/AC won with 172 and Blue Earth Area was second at 149. Rounding out the field: Martin County West 75, JWP 44, Maple River 34.
Carlie Wagner grabbed two firsts for the Panthers, winning the 200-meter dash in 27.39 seconds and the high jump at 5-2. She was second in the 100 in 13.3.
The Panthers’ other first was by eighth-grader Hailey Schuller, who won the long jump with a leap of 14-7 ¼.
Danielle Krueger was second in the 400 and third in the 100 and 200.
Others: Emmy Hobbs, second, pole vault; Katie Cole, third, long jump; 4x200 relay, fourth (Abby Crabtree, Gretchen Ramaker, Aubrey Schlinger, Raelin Schue ); Katharine Lewer, fourth, 1600; 4x800, fifth (Destinee Meyer, Shantaya Olson, Crystal Olson, Lewer); Paige Bolduan, fifth, high jump; 4x400, sixth (Ramaker, Schlinger, Maddie Wagner, Lewer).“We ran into a few very solid teams today,” said NRHEG coach Duey Ferber. “We saw a preview of what we are going to see in some future meets. Depth is a real concern right now. We have to score more points with our younger girls.”
Sophomore T.J. Schiltz, a state cross country entrant last fall, swept the distance events for the NRHEG boys, winning the 1600 in 4:44.18 and the 3200 in 10:22.6.
“T.J. had another nice meet, separating himself from his competition,” said Ferber.
Ross Chester won the long jump at 18-2 ¼.
“Ross is jumping well,” said Ferber. “He is after the school record this year.”
Other NRHEG places: 4x200 relay, second (Chester, Geoff Ramaker, Karter Sletten, Raece Johnson); Ramaker, third, 200; Tyler Holz, fourth, pole vault; 4x100, fifth (Chester, Nate Krause, Johnson, Jade Waltz); Sletten, fifth, 800; Schiltz, fifth, triple jump; 4x800, sixth (Hans Frank, Sletten, Tyler Raimann, Waltz).
Blue Earth Area won with 133, followed by Maple River with 130, USC/AC 118, JWP 80, Martin County West 57 and NRHEG 56.
“Blue Earth and Maple River really flexed their muscles tonight,” said Ferber.
