Helen N. Getskow, age 86 of St. Peter, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Benedictine Senior Living in St. Peter, Minnesota.

A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2 P.M. at Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland.

Marilyn Reistad, age 84, of Otsego died on March 13, 2024 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River.

Marilyn Reistad, the daughter of Howard and Irene (Eaker) Hanson, was born on April 21, 1939  in Waterloo, Iowa. They moved to Ellendale where she attended and graduated from Ellendale High School, and met the love of her life and future husband of 64 years, Wayne Reistad. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota. On June 21, 1959, she was united in marriage to Wayne Reistad at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. They made their home in Ellendale where she was a homemaker and then a bookkeeper for the Ellendale Standard.   They moved to Owatonna in 1996, and she continued keeping books for Ed’s GMC and at Edward Jones. They moved to Otsego in November of 2022. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking. She liked to make candies at Christmas time, lefse, lutefisk and Swedish meatballs. Marilyn also was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for the grandkids.

Mary Lucia Querna, beloved mother, sister, friend and musician, left this world on her 69th birthday surrounded by her loving family in Edina, MN. Born in Waseca, MN on March 11th, 1955 to Paul and Mary (Doyle) Querna, Mary was one of seven siblings, who shared many cherished memories of growing up on their family farm in New Richland, MN.

Mary plucked her first piano key at the age of 7, which laid the foundation for a love of music. She pursued that love to the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, studying Home Economics and sharing her talents through performances with the Sign Out music group.

Later, Mary wed and welcomed her beloved son, John, in 1983. Mary's creativity and dedication led her to become a columnist for a newspaper in Lewiston, MN, where she could often be seen pulling John in a red Radio Flyer on her way to interview a local resident.

Susan (Sue) Jean Hunnicutt, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the age of 77. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva on Friday, March 22, at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Leandra Anderson. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home and also for an hour prior to the service at the church. Following the service, Susan will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Sue was born in Albert Lea on January 10, 1947 to Raymond and Kathleen "Kacky" Nelson. She spent her formative years in Albert Lea, attending Trinity Lutheran Church and graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1965. On April 5, 1975, she married the love of her life, Gary Hunnicutt, and together they were blessed with three wonderful children.

Karen Marie Bergner, age 73 of Mankato, passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2024.

A memorial service will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at Northview - North Mankato Mortuary with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Karen was born on October 20th, 1950 to Eugene ”Duke” and Myrtle (Hatle) Tukua in Albert Lea, MN. She was raised in Hartland, Minnesota where she formed friendships that lasted long after graduation. Following high school, she attended the University of MN-Morris. Karen married Tom Bergner in December of 1969. Together they raised their four children: Jennifer, Marcus, Jay, and Abbie. They later divorced. Karen worked as an administrative assistant in healthcare for 22 years. She retired from the Andreas Cancer Center in Mankato in January of 2017.
