Dale A. Berg, 74, born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on October 17, 1949 to Kenneth and Marvel (nee Fratzke) Berg, led a life filled with service and dedication. He died Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Northwest Community Hospital, in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Dale was a financial consultant by profession. His greatest pride was being a devoted husband to his wife Sharon and father to his sons. He found great happiness spending time and sharing stories of his four grandchildren. Dale’s devotion extended beyond his family. He served his country with honor in the Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars with V Device. His bravery and commitment to his country were exemplary, serving in the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Infantry Regiment - known as the Wolfhounds.
Locally, Dale was a fixture in the veteran's community. He was the Commander of the Arlington Heights American Legion Merle Guild Post #208. Dale was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Arlington Heights Veterans of Foreign War Post #981, and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 311. He was also a member of Northwest Towns Sportsman's Club. His involvement in these groups highlighted his dedication to service and camaraderie.
Dale is survived by his sons, Ryan (Amy) and Blair (Melanie); his grandchildren, Dylan, Cole, Walter and Britton; his sister, Nancy Baanrud, his brothers, Neil (Collette) and Dean (Liz); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; and his parents.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 2 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 4 p.m. at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Dale's cremated remains will be placed at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
