Bruce William Byron passed away at his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Bruce was born in Wells, Minnesota on June 4, 1955 to George W. and Mary Jane (Munsch) Byron. He was raised on a farm in Byron Township near New Richland, Minnesota. Bruce graduated from New Richland-Hartland High School in 1974, earned an associate of arts degree from Waldorf College (Forest City, Iowa), and then attended St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He lived in Washington, D.C. and Minneapolis during his adult years and worked in various clerical and service roles. Bruce was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis.

Bruce appreciated and practiced art in many forms. He was a visual artist at a very early age. If there was a pencil and blank space on a piece of paper, Bruce was drawing. He also enjoyed the beauty of music and musicals, especially The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and The Sound of Music. Bruce had a good voice and loved to sing, especially hymns. Later in life Bruce learned to play the mandolin, which helped him create a more direct connection with the show tunes he loved.

He enjoyed the beauties of nature, such as Gull Lake sunsets, walking around the lakes in Minneapolis and coming down to the family farm. We will always think of Bruce when we see a beautiful flower garden and the blossoms of early spring.

He played Scrabble voraciously with his family and enjoyed trivia and word games. His sense of humor and consequent chuckle often revolved around a good word play.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his siblings: Jane (Joe) Scheidnes of Roseville, MN; Mary Pat (Ed) Zabinski of Grand Rapids, MN; Dennis (Wendy) Byron of Elysian, MN; George (Bob Menchini) Byron of Palm Springs, CA; Raymond (Byron Beerbower) Byron of New York City, NY; and Colleen (Gary Rodman) Byron of Ripon, WI in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service for Bruce was held at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis on Tuesday, June 11, at 1 .pm. A visitation preceded the service at St. Mark's from 12 p.m. To 1 p.m. He will be buried at a later date in New Richland Calvary Cemetery, New Richland, Minnesota.
