Mary June Krohn, 80, of Hartland, MN passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on December 2, 2023 from pancreatic cancer.
Mary June was born on June 14, 1943 in Kiester, MN to George and Anne (Wipplinger) Anderson. She was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. When Mary June was one, her family moved to a farm in New Richland, MN. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from New Richland High School in 1961. Following her graduation she moved to Mankato, MN and worked at Emmanual Hospital until she was married.
On June 6, 1964 she wed Larry Krohn at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. They moved to a farm near Le Center, MN and lived there for five years. They then moved to a farm near New Richland where they farmed for many years. They became members at Trinity Lutheran Church where Mary was active with the ALCW and taught Sunday School for 20 years. Her faith and church were very important to her.
Many years later they moved their family to Hartland, MN and Mary June went back to college and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Waseca. She majored in childcare and Gerontology and worked in those areas for several years. Larry and Mary June also owned and operated a convenience store in Eagle Lake, MN for 10 years.
Mary June loved working with children and elderly people. She enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and flowers. Her first love was her husband and family and adored her role as grandma.
Mary June will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Larry, of 60 years; children, James (Tammy) Krohn of Waseca, MN, Paul Krohn of Hartland, MN, Mark (Melody) Krohn of Lakeville, MN, and Timothy (Brooke) Krohn of Geneva, MN; grandchildren, Elisha, Nathan, Lainee, and Laik; 2 great-grandchildren, Keygon and Josiah; siblings, Paul (Margaret) Anderson of New Richland, MN and Steven Anderson of Albert Lea, MN; sister-in-law, Judi (Buch) Eul of Faribault, MN; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Barb) Krohn of Le Center, MN and Kevin (Lisa) Krohn of Montgomery, MN.
Mary June was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Anderson.
A funeral service will be held at Central Freeborn Church on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 12 p.m. Pastor Matthew Griggs will officiate. Mary’s family will greet guests at a visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland, MN.
