Fern Pearl Possin, 96, of Geneva, was born in Waseca County on May 3, 1927, to William and Alma (Bahr) Schultz. Fern went to school at District 49 and graduated from New Richland High School. After graduating, Fern moved to Owatonna where she lived and worked at Jostens until 1949. On November 6, 1949, Fern was united in marriage to Edward Possin until his passing on November 7, 2012. She worked at Security State Bank in Ellendale for 30 years and then at Green Lea Golf Course in Albert Lea until 2009. Active in her community leagues, Fern enjoyed bowling with the 30/30 League, golfing with the Weekender’s Golf League, and with friends at Green Lea Golf Course. In her free time, Fern volunteered for the St. Peter’s Ladies’ Aide in New Richland and enjoyed having coffee with friends in Geneva.
Left to cherish Fern’s memory are her sister, Jeanette Schoenfeld; nephew, Bill of Waseca; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her special friends, JoAnn and Zola.
Fern is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Ed Possin; parents, William and Alma Schultz; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Marilyn Possin; and special friend, Verona.
Memorial service for Fern Pearl Possin will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Richland with Pastor Scott Williams officiating; family will welcome friends at the church with a visitation one hour before the service. Inurnment will be held at St. Peter Cemetery in New Richland immediately following. The family invites friends and loved ones back to the church for a meal and fellowship following the burial.
