Evan Douglas Piltingsrud passed away at his home on Feb. 8, 2022 at the age of 56. Evan was born on Oct. 22, 1965 to Dale and Marie Piltingsrud of New Richland, Minn.
Evan graduated from New Richland-Hartland High School and had a full scholarship to any university of his choice. His favorite subjects were mathematics, astronomy, and aviation, which he continued to study throughout his life. As a teenager he built a telescope that all his siblings enjoyed using to survey the stars.
Evan enjoyed volunteering, and received recognition as Volunteer of the Year at the Salvation Army in Mankato. He also loved visiting the family farm and spending holidays with his parents and siblings, especially Christmas, delighting in choosing presents for everyone.
Evan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin Rudolph and Dorothy Piltingsrud, Melvin and Agnes Staie, by his father, Dale Piltingsrud, and by his brother-in-law, Rick Johnson. He is survived by his mother, Marie Piltingsrud, and by his siblings, Stephen, Gregory, Susan, Jon, Todd (Kit), Matthew, and Melanie (Michael), and by many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Evan's family will miss him for his great sense of humor and his enthusiasm for celebrating family events.
Funeral services will be held privately with the family at a later date.
