Robert “Bob” Garth Hanna, 58, of Owatonna, died of natural causes on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at home.
He was born May 5, 1962 in Forest City, Iowa, the son of Reuben and Eleanor (Swenson) Hanna. He grew up on a farm near Lake Mills, IA. He graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1980 where he played football and wrestled. Following his schooling, he worked on a farm for Don Grotewold near Lake Mills. He then began his 33 year career at Viracon where he was currently employed.
On June 26, 1987, he married Sandy Stover at North Prairie Lutheran Church in Scarville, IA. The couple began raising their 3 children, Stephanie, Amanda and Spencer, in Owatonna where they lived for 9 years. They then moved to a hobby farm near Geneva and later divorced. In 2018, Bob moved back to Owatonna.
Bob enjoyed woodworking, golfing, ice fishing, pheasant hunting, camping and spending time with friends. He especially enjoyed the spontaneous visits from his family.
He is a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna and a current member of Community Lutheran Church in Geneva.
He is survived by his children, Amanda (Mike Sanders) Hanna of Lino Lakes and Spencer (Cassie) Hanna of Dodge Center; former wife, Sandy Hanna of Albert Lea; siblings, Doug (Candy) Hanna of Lake Mills, Claran (Daryl) Stevens of Albert Lea, Marcia (Joe) Holt of Lake Mills, John (Cortnie) Hanna of Lake Mills, Janet (Kevin) Hebrink of Lake Mills and Lisa (Terry) Durby of Leland and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Reuben and Eleanor and daughter, Stephanie Hanna.
Visitation was at Michaelson Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
