Colleen A. Loken, 78, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Traditions 1 of Owatonna.
She was born September 24, 1942 in Nevada, IA, the daughter of Mike and Carolgene (Hobein) Dassenko. Colleen graduated from Oak Park Academy in 1960 and attended Southern Missionary in Tennessee. On August 12, 1962, she married Dale Loken at Le Sueur River Lutheran Church in New Richland. Colleen worked at Jostens for a few years. Colleen was a city girl who turned into a farm girl where she drove tractor and combine. She worked side by side with her husband, Dale, and their family. She had many hobbies, such as doing puzzles, square dancing, macramé, knitting, sewing and quilting. Colleen made a special quilt for each of her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker, especially her pies. Colleen was known for entertaining, planning the food around the event with family and friends. She was able to travel to many places, including, Germany, Ukraine, Moldova, throughout the United States to the east and west coasts, trips to the mountains, a cruise to Alaska and also wintering in Texas for many years. Colleen will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Dale Loken of Owatonna; children, Brian (and Tracy Spinler) Loken of Medford, Joan (and John) Maxwell of Donahue, IA and Jennifer (and Jeff) Therring of Hayfield; grandchildren Katherine (Jacob) Riffe, Whitney (Christopher) Kyllo, Ashley (Jesse) Osmundson, Heather (Dustin) Hale, Miranda (Joseph) Mizar, Joshua Therring and Jaelynn Therring; great-grandchildren, Mason Kyllo, Morgan Hale, Clara Osmundson, Garrett Riffe, Wyatt Osmundson, Hunter Hale, Aubrey Kyllo and Reagan Riffe; sisters, Mary (and Carlos) Schwantes of Ballwin, MO and Lola (and John) Shannon of Overland Park, KS; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Carolgene Dassenko; sister, Sonja Williamson; nephew, Jon Williamson and son-in-law, Gary Richards.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Waseca with Pastor Cary Larson officiating, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at a later date in the Le Sueur River Lutheran Cemetery in New Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Waseca.
