Harlan Wayne Kormann, 81, of Freeborn, MN, passed away on July 28, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Harlan was born on October 4, 1938 to Clarence and Agnes (Schroeder) Kormann on a farm by Waldorf, MN.  He married Virginia (Ginny) Irene Ausen on July 3, 1960.  Together they had four children: Kevin, Kathy, Kim and Kris, and the family lived in Minnesota, Iowa and California throughout the years.

Harlan was a hard-working jack of all trades and worked many jobs throughout the years, with the last 28 years of his career as the owner of his own handyman/maintenance business.

In later years Harlan traveled between Arizona and Minnesota with Ginny, the love of his life and wife of 60 years.  Harlan will forever be remembered as this feisty, fun, fearless, and opinionated one-of-a-kind “master prankster” of a man!  He loved hard and played hard.  His most joyous times were sneaking treats to his grandchildren, spending time with family and friends, and in recent years enjoying his casino runs.

Harlan is survived by his wife, Ginny; his four children Kevin (Cheryl) Kormann of Poway, CA, Kathy (Robert) Hein of Milford, IA, Kim (Marty) Schimp of Williams, IA, Kris (Kevin) Nesius of Scottsdale, AZ; and his twelve grandchildren: James Kormann, David Kormann; Darren (Natalie) Hein, Brad Hein, Kassie (Bo) Smith, Kelly (Rishi) Megha; Ryan Schimp, Eric (Brianna) Schimp, Kevin (Liana) Schimp; Cole Nesius, Marcus (Ella) Nesius, and Zach Nesius; six great-grandchildren, Calvin and Kennedy Hein, Parker and Eli Smith, and Nora and Oliver Schimp; three sisters, Audrey Stafford, Edna Wenzel, and Barb (Harlen) Beyer; sister-in-law Thelma Kormann; and eight brother and sister-in-laws, Elaine Seth, John (Ann) Ausen, Nancy (Bill) Carlson, Sonja Honstad, JoAnne (Jim) Hale, Bob (Sherry) Ausen, Linda (Steve Tyacke) Honstad, Dave (Becky) Ausen; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.

Condolences can be sent to:
