Remembering LaVonne H. Bartness
Private funeral services for LaVonne H. Bartness of Hartland, MN, were held at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Reverend Shawn Stafford will officiate. Private interment in Hartland Cemetery.
LaVonne died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Faribault on Saturday, April 4, 2020. She was 92.
She was born in rural Hartland Township on June 8, 1927, the daughter of Hans Jr. and Lillie (Miller) Holland.
As a young girl she attended rural school and then helped on the farm.
On October 12, 1947, she married Mervin M. Bartness. They were members of the Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church, and very active in the Hartland Community. The family mowed the Hartland Cemetery, with LaVonne doing her part well into her 80’s.
She did home day care in Hartland, and cared for many that considered her their second mom.
LaVonne loved and cared for those children as her own as well as enjoying all her nieces and nephews.
LaVonne taught her own children many things, the greatest of these being her great love for gardening, and animals- all creatures great and small.
Somethings people didn’t know was that she had a great love for chocolate and she also was a talented yodeler.
She was a very hard worker, but also took time to enjoy family time at camping and at the cabin.
LaVonne is survived by her children Bradley Bartness (Lynn) of Faribault, MN, Lori Ann (Daniel) Bell of Faribault, MN; grandchildren: Nicole Bartness Zrust and her children Brooklyn, Morgan, and Piper of Faribault, MN, Angela Bartness and children Dylan, Reese and Georgia Collins of Edina, MN, Zechary (Melissa) Bell and children Hank, Josie and Hazel of Owatonna, Alex (Angela) Bell and children Lillian, Ned and Melina of Ellendale, MN, sister LaDonna Tollefson of Mankato, MN, brother Richard (Connie) Holland of Laguna Hills, CA, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean Holland of Ellendale, MN, Dode Bartness, Doris and Howard Sigurdson of Albert Lea, MN, Eugene Warke, of New Richland, MN, Merle Bartness of Ellendale, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mervin, her sisters Annabell Hendrickson, her brother Elvern Holland, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elaine Warke, Delano Bartness, Carrol and Ivadell Bartness, Marge Bartness, Vernon and Babe Bartness and Donnie Bartness.
Her wise words, behave and follow the rules… will always be remembered.
