Remembering the life of Evelyn “Evie” M. Toft….
Private Services for Evelyn “Evie” M. Toft of Ellendale will be held at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, Minnesota. Pastor Richard Sliper will officiate. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery.
Evelyn died on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Thorne Crest Senior Living in Albert Lea.
Evelyn was born on April 25, 1927, in Wadena, MN the daughter of Bernard and Bertha (Martin) Hoffman. She attended country school through the 8th grade. She then became nanny/housekeeper for a Wadena attorney, moving into town so she could continue her education, graduating from Wadena High School. She later moved to southern Minnesota, where she lived at the Women’s Club in Albert Lea.
Evie met her soulmate Kenneth Toft in September of 1950 and one month later on October 7, 1950, there were married in Albert Lea. They shared 63 beautiful years together, many of them on a farm in rural Ellendale, before Kenneth died in 2013.
Evie enjoyed being a farm wife, raising her two boys, working in the yard, gardening , cooking and baking. After retiring, Evie and Kenneth had opportunity to travel and see some of our countries amazing sights.
Evie is survived by her sons Kent (Kim) of Blaine, MN, Tim (Nancy) of Ellendale, MN, grandchildren: Nikki (Dave) of New Richland, Chad (Megan) of Forest Lake, MN; great grandchildren: Brody, Logan and Natalie; brothers and sisters: Russ and Judy Hoffman, Fritz and Marilyn Hoffman, John and Gloria Hoffman, Leo Hoffman, Louise Johnson, Ray and Sue Hoffman, Vern Hoffman, Julie and Steve Kingsley; sister-in-law Shirley Toft, special nieces and nephews, Cheryl Perry, Vicky and Dan Ress, Carol and Jon Anderson, special friends, Marion Motz, Julie Gullickson and Dana Wayne, many other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, her sisters, Bern and her husband Wally Hanson, Theresia and her husband Lloyd Osland; grandson-in-law Todd Schumaker, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gordon Toft, Charles and Marge Toft, James and Margaret Toft, Paul Toft, Carol, Olive and Phyllis Toft.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Evie’s caregivers at Whispering Oaks in Ellendale, Memory Care at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community and Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice-Albert Lea, for the very kind and loving care we all received.
