Richard “Dillie” Allen Dillemuth, 87, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at New Richland Care Center.
He was born May 30, 1932 in Faribault, Minnesota the son of John and Alvina (Steinbauer) Dillemuth. He grew up in Faribault, Northfield and Owatonna. He graduated from Owatonna High School, class of 1951. He served in the United States Air Force and upon his honorable discharge, returned to Owatonna. He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Hrdlicka on November 17, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Owatonna. Dillie worked for 20 years at Jostens in Owatonna as a jewelry inspector. He then began his own painting and staining business. In his retirement he was a caretaker at Arms Apartments until 84 years of age. Dillie entered the New Richland Care Center where he enjoyed the care he received and the friendships he made. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the American Legion and the V.F.W. He enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, traveling, dancing, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia (and Jerry) Arndt of New Richland and Dan (and Cathy) Dillemuth of Palo, IA; grandchildren, Andy (and Kara) Henderson of Jordan, Stacy (and Tim) Van Engelenhoven of Owatonna, Shanda (and Matt) McMonigal of Rocklin, CA, Lanning (and Jason) Maher of Owatonna and Kelly (and Tiffany) Arndt of Geneva; great-grandchildren, Reid, Amelia, Vanessa, Haylee, Hunter, Kylie, Emma, Lincoln, Quinn, Cloie and Eva; siblings, Jack (and Marilyn) Dillemuth of Owatonna, Pat Carroll of Owatonna and Paul (and Betty) Dillemuth of Sun City, AZ and sister-in-law, Marlene Dillemuth of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alvina; wife, Carol Dillemuth and brothers and sisters and in-laws, Donald Dillemuth, Kenneth (and Sally) Dillemuth, Donna (and Bill) Arndt and Fran (and Curly) Frodl.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Tuesday, September 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. Interment with military honors by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
Memorials are preferred to New Richland Care Center or a Hospice organization of choice.
