Florian E. Lange age 91 of Deerwood died on April 16, 2019 in Tucson, AZ where he has spent the last 11 winters. He was born February 25, 1928 in Little Sauk Township, MN to William and Ethel (Martenson) Lange. Florian was an Army veteran in the 42nd Airborne. Florian married his high school sweetheart Eileen Smith in Long Prairie on August 30, 1948. They lived happily together for 58 years. He attended Long Prairie High
School and graduated from St. Cloud State in 1951. He was passionate about education and taught high school in Ellendale and in Crosby-Ironton. He was an active member of the community where he attended Immanuel Lutheran Church, he volunteered often at the food shelf and coached high school baseball. Florian was also an avid conservationist and outdoors-man. He loved to fish and hunt with his friends and relatives in particular his son Rick. His favorite activity was loving his family. He adored his wife, his children, grandchildren and great grandkids. He was happiest when close to his family and friends at his home on Serpent Lake.
Florian is survived by his daughter, Florette Chenevert of Deerwood; four grandchildren, Robin (Jeff) Grote of Maple Grove, Amy (Derek) Diesen of Minnetoka, Sarah (Adam) Kirkman of Denver, CO and Claire (Paul) Wertin of Vail, Co; twelve great grandchildren; and his wonderful friend, Karolyn Latterelle of Crosby.
Preceding Florian in death are his parents; his wife, Eileen; his son, Rick Lange and sister, Beverly Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
