Lila Larson Evans, 91, of West Jordan, Utah, gained her angel wings on January 7, 2019.
Lila Bell Larson was born November 5, 1926, in rural Waseca, Minnesota, to Berdin and Lila (Hasner) Larson. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1944, where she was homecoming queen in 1943. On July 25, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Evans, when he returned from serving as a Marine in the Pacific (Okinawa) during WWII.
Lila was a homemaker and worked part time when needed in the bakery. Bob was a professional baker.
Bob and Lila lived in Cedar Rapids for many years. They were charter members of Hope Lutheran Church. Upon retirement they moved to Peoria, Arizona. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends in the Southwest. Casa del Sol, Fiesta Club, and Church of Joy were their main activities. Lila created many crocheted blanket squares for relief blankets and a variety of gifts.
In 2014 they moved to Utah to be closer to immediate family. Dena and Jeff looked after them in their home.
Survivors include daughters: Cindy Rossman and Dena (Jeff) Steggall; grandchildren, Cody (Melissa) Rossman; Jeff Steggall, Rob (Talene) Steggall, and Sammie (Kevin) McCandless; great-grandsons, Evan and Cutter Rossman; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dude and Dean; sister, Bette Bedney and in laws.
A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
