A memorial service for Mary Lou Spurr Faldet will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church in Ellendale, MN. Rev. Richard Sliper will officiate.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, and burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery near Ellendale.

Mary Lou passed away on Wednesday July 4, 2018 at the New Richland Care Center.  She was 91 years old.

Mary Lou (Larson) was born on March 26, 1927 in Jackson City, WI to Lawrence and Emma (Erickson) Larson.  She grew up in York, WI and attended school in Hixton, WI. After High School, she set off to help with the war efforts. She was working at Camp McCoy when she met Marlowe Spurr. The two married on June 26, 1946 in Pigeon Falls Wisconsin. They moved to the Ellendale area and spent 46 years  together until Marlowe’s death. In 2001, she rekindled her relationship with her high school sweetheart, Bailen. On August 27, 2003, Mary Lou married Bailen Faldet in Wisconsin and was married until his premature death. Spending over 50 years in the Ellendale area, Mary Lou took care of her family and farmhouse.  She worked at a number of places such as: Standard Café, the Texaco Truck Stop, Ellendale Café, all in Ellendale, and also at Quiram’s Bakery in New Richland.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church and also the United Methodist Church in Ellendale.  Mary Lou was a 4H Leader and was on various Circles in church. Mary Louc could often be found playing cards in different card clubs or with friends and family. She was known for her cooking and baking abilities.  Mary Lou enjoyed spending time watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.  Mary Lou had a great sense of humor, and loved time with the family. 

Mary Lou is survived by a sister, Shirley Miller of Osseo, WI; her sons, Greg Spurr of New Richland, Monte (Cathy) Spurr of Eagan, MN; daughters, Mary Kaye (Jim) Steele of Albert Lea and Becca Spurr of Mankato; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many step grandchildren; special family, Don Hagen, Dan Hagen, Denise (Hagen) Olson, and David Hagen; as well as many loving relatives and friends.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by first husband, Marlowe Spurr; second husband, Bailen Faldet; a son, Michael Spurr; grandson, Derek Spurr; parents, Lawrence and Emma Larson; a brother, Laurel Larson; sisters, Elaine Martin and Mavis Mickelson; brothers-in-law, Jim Miller, Ray Martin, Ernie Mickelson, and sister-in-law, Doris Larson; daughters-in-law, Lauri Spurr and Cheryl Johnson; and a niece, Jeanne Kolden.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Ellendale, Geneva, or New Richland Ambulance Services. Blessed be her memory!
