A visitation for Arlene Kroeger Pfeffer will be held from 10–11 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Friedrich Funeral Chapel, New Richland. A private family funeral service and burial will also take place that day.
Arlene passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Beacon, New Richland, MN. She was 86 years old.
Mom was a fabulous homemaker and hostess for many family gatherings and birthday parties where there was never a shortage of great food! The house was always decorated for the holidays, especially Christmas, and cookies and candy were abundant. She enjoyed gardening, especially looking after her roses, and was an avid collector of clowns, dolls, dishes, and so much more. Mom was also a MN Twins fan and enjoyed MN Gopher basketball and football.
She was born February 26, 1931, the daughter of Floyd and Gertrude Haushahn, and a life-long resident of New Richland. She married Lloyd Kroeger on October 7, 1949 and together they had three children: Kathy, Jerry, and Michael. When Lloyd became ill, Arlene began working at Brown Printing and then E.F. Johnson’s where she would retire after 25 years of service. Lloyd died in 1970 and on August 21, 1976 she married Paul Pfeffer. The couple enjoyed gardening together, visiting family, and Saturday nights at the Torchlight in Mapleton.
After Paul passed in 2008, Mom lived in her home independently until a stroke in 2012 forced her to move into the Beacon in New Richland.
Arlene is survived by her children, Kathy (Tom) Volk of Madison Lake, Jerry (Beth Ann) Kroeger of Freeborn, and Michael (Dee) Kroeger of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Sara (Ryan) Bennett, Amber Volk (Benjamin), Brandon (Angela) Kroeger, Kara (Matt) Wilkenson; Taylor Kroeger, and Nicholas Kroeger; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Jackie Braulik of Owatonna; as well as several nieces and nephews; she is also survived by Paul’s children, Mike (Sue) Pfeffer, Peg Carlson, Bob (Teresa) Pfeffer, Francis (Becky) Pfeffer, Noreen (Steve) More, Jane (Jeff) Peterson and Ronnie (Cathy) Pfeffer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents; first husband, Lloyd Kroeger; second husband, Paul Pfeffer; and a sister, Evelyn Smith.
