Zenobia “Nobie” Jane Haberman, age 90 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Friday, October 20, 2017 at Allina Health System in Owatonna, Minnesota. Zenobia Jane Vernes was born January 29, 1927, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota the daughter of Hans A. and Sara (Nelson) Vernes. She attended elementary school in Blooming Prairie and graduated from Franklin High School in Portland, Oregon in 1945. Her family had moved to Portland in 1942, so her father could work in the ship yards. After graduation, Nobie worked for a retail credit company and PBX until returning to Blooming Prairie in 1955. On December 18, 1965, she was united in marriage to Henry Haberman at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on the Haberman family farm. Nobie enjoyed having her grandchildren visit and loved to cook, bake and mow her large yard. She was a member of Community Lutheran Church, its Rebecca Circle as well as a Women’s Bible Study. She especially enjoyed going to her Saturday morning coffee group.  After Henry’s death on November 3, 1989, Nobie continued to live on the family farm until her death.

Survivors include her daughters, Marion (Harold) Johnson of Dodge Center and Jenelle Gallus of Hastings; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Haberman of Blooming Prairie; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Thompson of Scappoose, Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Otilla Anderson of Mankato and Garnet Vernes of Vancouver, Washington and many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death parents; Hans and Sara Vernes; her husband, Henry Haberman; two sons, Gerald and Donald; one sister, Edna Hryciw; two brothers, Conrad and Ingvald Vernes and a son-in-law, Leonard Gallus.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2017, at Community Lutheran Church at Geneva, Minnesota with the Rev. Dr. Kristin Venne, officiating. Interment will be held at the Danish Lutheran Cemetery, Summit Township, Steele County, Minnesota following her cremation.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m, Thursday, October 26th at the Worlein – Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
