Robert Evans, 91, of West Jordan, Utah, died peacefully in his sleep on June 1st, with his wife of 70+ years at his bedside.

Robert Milton Evans was born April 19, 1926, in Faribault, Minnesota, to John and Grace (Barney) Evans. He graduated from New Richland High School in 1944, where he lettered in football and baseball. Following graduation he joined the Marines serving in the Pacific (Okinawa) during WWII. He married Lila Larson on July 25, 1946.

Bob was a professional baker starting his career at Federal Bake Shop in Iowa, moving to North Dakota and back to Iowa. He retired from Barlows/Randalls in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To satisfy his “inner farmer”, he was a part time landscaper for Cedar Rapids Nursery owned by Dwight and Ralph Hughes.

Bob and Lila lived in Cedar Rapids for many years. They were charter members of Hope Lutheran Church. Bob played recreational softball. Upon retirement they moved to Peoria, Arizona, where Bob took up golfing. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends in the SW. Casa del Sol, Fiesta Club, and Church of Joy were their main activities. Bob volunteered at church and with Habitat for Humanity.

In 2014 they moved to Utah to be closer to immediate family. Dena and Jeff looked after them in their home.

Survivors include daughters Cindy Rossman and Dena (Jeff) Steggall; grandchildren, Cody (Melissa) Rossman; Jeff, Rob (Talene), and Sammie Steggall; great-grandsons, Evan and Cutter Rossman. Sister, Ethel Kaplan. Many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Phon, Donald, and Kenneth; sisters, Catherine Greenwood, Dorothy Christiansen, Maxine Berntson, and Shirley Whitehurst; and in laws.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date at St. Olaf Lake. Condolences may be sent to 4698 West Colander Drive, West Jordan, Utah 84088.
