Lavern L. Loberg, of Ellendale, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 14th at the age of 87.
Lavern was born January 20, 1930, the son of Harold and Cora (Rieckheim) Loberg. He graduated from Ellendale High School in 1949 and was married to Marilyn Jensen on May 2, 1951. They recently celebrated their 66th anniversary.
Lavern served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after returning, farmed for most of his life. He also worked for Federated Ins. Co. for 14 years after retiring from farming. He was on the rural school board of Dist. 76 and a past member of the board at First Lutheran Church of Ellendale.
Lavern and Marilyn raised three children and loved to travel to the west coast to visit children and grandchildren.
Lavern had a great sense of humor and was very humble, kind and never complained about anything. He and Marilyn had a very loving relationship.
Lavern is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Greg (Cindy); daughters, Deb (Pat) and Diane (Bruce) Watts; grandchildren, Grant, Allison, Luke, Steph, Kelly and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Grace Loberg, Audrey, Isaiah and Micah Beckham, Eli and Jude Loberg, Mason Works and Vera Garland; a brother, Raymond (Doris) of Ellendale; and many nieces and nephews.
Lavern was preceded in death by a brother, Carol; sister, Berniece Yanke, and his parents.
A private family service is being held Friday, May 19, 2017 at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna.
