Alan Lucias Remington, age 65, of Wells, MN, died suddenly Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in a tragic car accident. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 7, 2017, at 2 p.m., at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN, with Fr. Andrew Vogel and Father Eugene Stenzel officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Alan was born March 12, 1952 the son of Lucias and Ellen (Stam) Remington in Faribault, MN. He attended Waterville-Elysian High School, and graduated in 1970. He went on to study machining technology at Faribault Vocational Technical School. Al married Cindy Webster in 1984 and the couple later divorced. On June 26, 2002, Al married Sally Cummings in Wells, MN. Al was a man who wore many hats; he was a machinist, a mechanic, a truck driver, and a welder. He was a Waseca County Sheriff, and was the Police Chief in Waldorf. He was a materials handler for Wells Lamberts, and most recently an outside salesman for NAPA Auto Parts of Wells. Al was a member of the Holy Family Council of St. Casimir Catholic Church, and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed fixing and creating everything and anything, “surfing” Craigslist, playing Sudoku, going to auctions and metal scrapping. Al also liked cards games, especially “Hand &Foot.”
He loved spending time with friends and razzing the staff and customers at Casey’s in Wells and his NAPA route customers.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debbie Vanier; brother-in-law, Patrick Toomey; father-in-law: Casper Cummings; sister-in-law Mary (Hovland) McClellan.
Al is survived by his wife, Sally of Wells, MN; step-children: Chris (Sara) Staloch of Excelsior, MN, Nic (ChrisElaine) Staloch of Seattle, WA, and Molly (Duane) Brunsen of Waldorf, MN; grandchildren: Ben, Allison and Samantha Staloch of Excelsior, MN; Hannah, James and Emma Brunsen of Waldorf, MN; siblings: Richard (Bonnie) Savoie of ID, Kathy (Kenny) Robertson of Owatonna, MN, Maurine (Dan) Casper of Waterville, MN, Linda (Bruce) Froderman of Lake City, MN, Phyllis (Fred) Brandt of Mankato, MN, Denise Toomey of FL, Pete (Karen) Remington of Waterville, MN, Carrie (Erik) Luna of Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law Patrick Vanier of FL; mother-in-law Margaret Cummings of Wells; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jan (Bill) Stermer, John Hovland, Mike (Suzie) Cummings, Sue (Don) Grunzke, Ken (Caryle) Cummings, Dennis Cummings, Cindy (Todd) Grunzke; numerous nieces and nephews and many awesome friends.
Al’s mottos were, “Every day is a good day, some days are just better,” and “Be nice like me.”
