Virgil Dale Neumann, 80, of Owatonna, MN, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. He was born on Feb. 25, 1936 to Rose (Krause) and Otto Neumann in New Richland. He attended country school and New Richland High School. He served in the Army from 1959-63. He worked for Wilson Foods of Albert Lea, MN for 28 years. He married Janet (Larson) Oct. 31, 1969.
Virgil enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved playing cards. He had a love for animals, especially horses. He enjoyed giving buggy rides to his grandchildren. One of his biggest joys was playing “cowboys” with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Janet, and their son, Loring and wife Molly (Crawford) and three grandchildren, Tanner, Payton, and MaKenna Neumann, all of Owatonna, sister Alice Sutlief (Owatonna), sister in law, Dorothy Neumann (Waseca), brother and sister in law, Gene and Audrey Larson (Ellendale), many nieces and nephews, one son Neil Neumann from a previous marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Otto Neumann, brothers, Otto and Raymond Neumann, sisters, Dorothy Sutlief and Florence Possehl, one son Terry Neumann, sister-in-law, Delores Neumann, brother in laws, John Possehl, Earl and LeRoy Sutlief.
A visitation will be held at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
