Arnold Ernest Meyer, age 98, of Wells, MN, died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Wells, MN with Pr. Paul Woolverton officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells with Military Honors accorded by The Wells Color Guard. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family. Arnold was born December 10, 1917 in Faribault Co., the son of Ernest and Amanda (Klingbeil) Meyer. Arnie was in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. On June 28, 1940, he was united in marriage to Ellen Vogelsang in Northwood, IA. To this union four sons were born. Arnie was a carpenter, a REC Lineman and worked at Wells Public Utilities until his retirement. Arnie was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Wells for many years, having served as usher for over 30 years. He was also member of the Wells Volunteer Fire Department and the Wells American Legion Post #210. Arnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and chickenfoot. He liked to watch his kids and grandkids participate in sporting events, and watching sports on TV. Arnie loved the time that he spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by three sons: Dennis (wife Betty) Meyer of Waverly, IA, Ronald (wife Nancy) Meyer of Windom, MN, and Dave (wife Carmen) Meyer of Wells, MN; eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.
Arnie is preceded in death by his parents, wife Ellen, son Gene Meyer, and granddaughter, Dawn (Meyer) Dillavou; sister Ruby Buendorf Hass; brother Hebert Meyer; daughter-in-law Sharon (Klenk) Meyer.
