Funeral services for Marvin R. (Pat) Goette of New Richland, MN, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at the St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland. Pastor Scott Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m. at Friedrich Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
Marvin died Monday, March 14, 2016 at his home in New Richland. He was 86 years of age.
Marvin was born October 29, 1929 in Kiester, MN, the son of Albert and Laura (Schewe) Goette. He attended country school in Kiester and moved to the Hartland area in 1946. On December 3, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marcella Hansen in Bricelyn, MN. Together they moved to New Richland in 1957 where they farmed.
Marvin was an active member of St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving on church council and ushering. He loved farming and taking care of his equipment and the land. Marvin was known for his clean machinery and well-groomed land. He enjoyed fishing, old time music and dancing, watching TV westerns and family trips to Alexandria, MN. Most important was the time spent with his family and grandkids attending all of their sporting events.Marvin is survived by his wife Marcella of New Richland, MN, son Craig Goette of New Richland, MN, daughter Cindi Christenson of Freeborn, MN, grandson Casey and his wife Britani Christenson of Mankato, MN, and granddaughter Ciara Kaye Christenson of Fargo, ND. Also surviving are brothers Donald Goette of Albert Lea, MN, Vernon (Alice) Goette of Hartland, MN, sister Darlene Underland of Ellendale, MN, sister-in-law Liz Hansen of Jacksonville, FL, brother-in-law Milt (Marjorie) Hansen of Long Lake, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Laura, brother Loren Goette, brother-in-law Richard Underland, sister-in-law Tina Goette and nephews Brian Goette, Mark Goette and Daniel Underland.
