Sandra “Sandy” Lee Becker, 74, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the home of her granddaughter in Bothell, WA.
Sandy was born in Monango, ND on April 19, 1941, the only child of the late Harry Feather and Ella (Goodrich) Feather. She graduated from Aberdeen, SD high school in 1959. She married James Walberg on August 13, 1960. She had three children with Jim and they divorced in 1975. She was married to Gerald “Jerry” Becker of Dell Rapids, SD from September 15, 1984 until his death in 2009.
Sandy was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and very special great grandmother. She cherished every moment she could spend with her family and be with her grandchildren.
She loved to knit and make scarves and baby blankets for each grandchild and great grandchild. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren's schools to have lunch with them and make them feel special. Sandy was an avid gardener, and proud to be the president of the SD Garden Club in 2002. Sandra enjoyed working for many years as the bookkeeper at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. While living in Ellendale, Minnesota, Sandy enjoyed helping at the Ellendale Area Food Shelf and helped start the Prayer Shawl Program, still in effect today. Sandy loved to travel and after the passing of her husband Jerry, she travelled the country in her RV with her beloved cat Shadow. Sandy acquired many friends during her travels while still maintaining relationships with friends and family from the past.
Living family members include her three children, Crystal Herrmann of Kirkland, WA, Janelle Herrmann of Charles City, IA and Jeff (Heather) Walberg of Burnsville, MN; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Karl) Buggart, Joshua (Rachel) Herrmann, Brittany (Anthony Weis) Herrmann, Lacy (Justin) Trenkamp, Tiara (Matthew) Grady, Summer (Phillip Thomas) Herrmann, Dakotah Walberg, Kianna Walberg and Justin Walberg; 12 great-grandchildren, Annala, Carson, Kendal, Desirre, Peyton, Reis, Chase, Izik, Tripp, Mayzie, Abel, Brogan and Davien Weis; her step-sister, Donna Monteith and honorary granddaughter, Emily Pullin of Sioux Falls, SD.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Becker, parents Harry and Ella Feather and stepfather Donald Monteith.
A funeral service for Sandra Becker will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Ellendale, Minnesota.
