Leon Franklin Piltz, age 91, of Waldorf, MN, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Traditions of Waterville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Visitation will be Friday, October 10, from 4-7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor Larry Sipe will officiate, and interment will be in the St. Joseph Community Cemetery in Waldorf.
Leon Franklin Piltz was born November 13, 1922 in Vivian Township, Waseca county, the son of Bruce and Clara (Latta) Piltz. Leon graduated from Waldorf High School in 1941. On June 29, 1948 he was united in marriage to Cecile Possin, at the Freedom Parsonage, Janesville, MN. Leon was a farmer and managed the fertilizer and gas plant in Waldorf for many years. After retirement, he was a courier for Roundbank in Waldorf. Leon served on the Waldorf city council and was active in the Waldorf community. He enjoyed his family, farming, his community and World War II history.Leon is survived by sons Daryl (Nancy) Piltz, and Bruce Piltz; two grandsons, Tim (Cristena) Piltz and Tyler (Brandi) Piltz; three great-grandchildren, Ariana, Gunner, and Chase; special friend Kay Blees; and beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cecile, two brothers, and four sisters.
Memorials are preferred to the Immanual Lutheran Church, Freedom Township.
