Marvin H. Schoaf, age 90, of Owatonna, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Traditions II, Owatonna.
A memorial service will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend John Miller of Daybreak Community Church, Owatonna, officiating. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Marvin Henry, the son of Henry and Mae (Anderson) Schoaf, was born on July 8, 1924 in Pratt. He graduated from Ellendale High School in 1943. Marvin married Laura Balfe on August 28, 1946 in New Richland, and she preceded him in death on September 11, 2009.
Marvin farmed for 20 years in Steele County, and was previously employed with Wilson and Co. for five years and Owatonna Canning Co. (Lakeside Foods) for over 30 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing and dancing. Marvin was a gentle man who loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his seven children; Nancy (and Lynn) Lorenzen of Charles City, IA, Marjean Schultz of La Crosse, WI, Colleen Walburn of Owatonna, Lona Godovik of La Crosse, WI, Mark (and Sandy) Schoaf of St. Joseph, MO, Shelly (and Bernie) Malecha of Owatonna, and Kevin Schoaf of Las Vegas, NV; 23 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura and one sister, Ione Schuster.
