Rickie died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home on Thursday, May 15, 2014. He was 61.

He was born on June 2, 1952, in Waseca, Minnesota, the son of Benjamin T. and Doris A. (Lau) Waknitz.

Rickie had volunteered on the Ellendale Fire Department for more than 28 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening on his hobby farm.
